Attorney Tristan Routh graduated with highest honors from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Peace, War, and Defense and History.  He later received his Juris Doctor graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2011.  Tristan has experience working in a variety of fields, including:

  • Staff Attorney, Carolina Student Legal Services, Inc., 2014 to Present

  • Staff Attorney, Randolph County Department of Social Services, 2012 to 2014

  • Associate Attorney, Gavin and Cox, Attorneys at Law, Asheboro, NC, 2011 to 2012

Tristan handles the landlord-tenant cases for the office and most of the litigation cases.  He is an excellent litigator and enjoys advocating for students in the courtroom.  He is also well versed in many other areas of the law and assists with a variety of other cases in the office, including criminal and traffic matters, employment questions, contract reviews, consumer issues, and more.

He also has a great connection with the university faculty and staff because of his long history with the university.  While in law school Tristan served on the Carolina Union Board of Directors for two years, which he has continued since joining our office.  He also served as a Student Advocate on the UNC Graduate Attorney General's Staff from 2008-2010, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society and an Argonaut in the Order of the Golden Fleece.  He also participated on the Broun National Trial Team while in law school from 2009-2010, which encouraged his passion for litigation.

Tristan has also held many roles within his community.  In 2014 he was the Vice-President of the NC Social Services Attorneys Association.  After law school he served as an Attorney Advisor for the Asheboro High School Mock Trial Team from 2011 to 2013.

In his spare time you can find him gardening, spending time with friends, or cooking gourmet meals and new recipes.  Tristan loves traveling, good food, and good company.  He is also a large promoter of sustainability, shopping local, and preserving the environment.
